Way to Go - Joel

Introducing Joel…

My name is Joel and I am participating in the YMCA Megathon because every child in the Okanagan should have a place where they feel they belong and are encouraged to discover their full potential. As a child, my brother and I were privileged and given the opportunity to participate in a number of different sports with my parents idea of developing well rounded healthy young men. At that time, I fell in love with swimming. Not only is it a great way to stay fit but I find it a time contemplate life and relieve stress.

As a YMCA Strong Kids Megathon superhero, I will be swimming 10km in the 100m by 100 swim challenge. Last year was my first year swimming 10km in approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes and I was the only challenger at the Rutland YMCA to complete this particular swim. What an amazing experience I had! This year I’d like to complete the challenge in as close to three hours as possible.

This campaign will help ensure no child is left out and every family in the Okanagan who needs financial assistance has access to YMCA facilities, programs and services.

Learn more here. 100% of funds raised from Megathon go to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign to support children and families in need.

Thank you, Joel Koette
